Migration Data Collection Training
Bishkek- On 12 October, International Organization for Migration trained eleven data enumerators from all seven regions of the country within its Labor migration program in Central Asia.
Funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the training was dedicated to Mobility Tracking Matrix, which systematically collects data on locations, target populations and their diverse needs to inform assistance.
In the first round of data collection in 2022, data enumerators interviewed 1434 people. Baseline Mobility Assessment showed that 66% of returnees were men at the working age. Third of returnees were employed at community/social and personal services and 24% at construction. When asked about their migration intentions, 44% intended to permanently stay in Kyrgyzstan, while 31% wanted to circulate between country of destination and Kyrgyzstan. Top five intended countries of destination were: Russian Federation (45%), Germany (14%), USA (7%), Turkiye (6%) and Republic of Korea (6%).
