IOM’s Training Enhances Skills of CEA Trainers for Pre-Departure Orientation
Koi-Tash – The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with the Centre for Employment Abroad (CEA), is launching the Training of Trainers (ToT) initiative under the “Labour Migration Programme – Central Asia.” This program, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), aims to enhance the management of labour migration to maximize the impact of human mobility on development.
The ToT sessions, scheduled for November 15-16, will equip seven CEA trainers with essential skills and knowledge to deliver pre-departure orientation (PDO) sessions. These sessions play a crucial role in preparing potential migrants for working abroad by covering topics such as contract terms, workplace safety, communication channels in case of emergencies, etc.
The training will be led by Marwa Ulhaq, a Training and Learning Management Coordinator within IOM, with over seven years of experience in training and soft skills development.
Building the capacity of PDO trainers is a vital step in strengthening support systems for migrant workers. This initiative aligns with the commitment of the Government of Kyrgyzstan and IOM to promoting ethical recruitment practices and ensuring the protection of migrant workers.
The ToT initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance labour migration governance in Central Asia, focusing on improving coordination among stakeholders, promoting ethical recruitment, and strengthening migration data for evidence-based decision-making.
