IOM organizes Human Mobility Data Training
Bishkek – IOM provides training to the Task Force on population mobility data on 17-18 April, with the support of the Ministry of Labour Social Security and Migration and the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Task Force consists of representatives from the National Statistics Committee, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Boarder Service of the State Committee for National Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Digital Development, Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Migration, Ministry of Emergency, Ministry of Education and Science. It aims to create a national system for gathering statistical data on migration at both the local and national levels. To date, the Task Force developed statistical forms for collecting official and administrative statistics in migration. The Task Force also has the goal of carrying out the Action Plan for the first phase of the Concept of Migration Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2021-2030, which was approved by the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on 13 April 2022.
“The training will have hands-on activities where participants will learn new skills on how to gather, combine, and check data, as well as how to share and use it. This training wants to improve the ability of the Task Force Group on migration data collection for migration policy execution in the Kyrgyz Republic,” – said Vivianne Van Der Vorst, Senior Regional Project Coordinator, who presented the IOM Mobility Tracking Matrix Project to the participants.
IOM’s Mobility Tracking Matrix is a system that tracks and monitors displacement and population mobility. It is designed to regularly and systematically capture, process, and disseminate information to provide a better understanding of the movements and evolving needs of people on the move, whether on site or en route.
