Reach every victim of trafficking
July 30th marks the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a day set aside to raise awareness of the plight of human trafficking victims and to promote and protect their rights.
On 31 July 2023, the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the International Organization for Migration /United Nations Migration Agency and the NGO “El Agartuu”, is holding a round table dedicated to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
This event is implemented within the framework of the Program and Action Plan of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2022-2025 as of 15 April 2022, № 227. Holding annual events dedicated to the World Day against Trafficking in Persons is one of the objectives of the Plan.
The purpose of the round table is to promote the strengthening of the activities of the authorized state bodies and civil society on the issues of informing the victims of human trafficking (VoTs) about the state assistance within the framework of the National Referral Mechanism as well as about safe migration.
At the roundtable, authorized bodies will present the following issues for discussion: the role of Interagency Commissions for the social rehabilitation of VoTs, the National Referral Mechanism for VoTs as an effective way to provide social assistance to victims, and draft information materials for VoTs.
The roundtable is conducted within the “Labour Migration Programme in Central Asia” with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
