Strengthening the National Statistics Committee's capacity to collect and analyze migration data
Bishkek- On 12 December, IOM handed over five laptops to the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic as technical support within the Labor Migration Programme in Central Asia, funded by The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
This technical support will contribute to strengthening the Committee’s capacity to collect and analyze migration data as well as to increase the mobility of data collection. In addition, a publication on migration will be released in early 2024, based on the results of the Kyrgyz population census in 2022.
"We needed powerful laptops to enable our data analysts to work efficiently with big data. Data handling and analysis will be faster, now." - noted Zainidin Zhumaliev, Deputy Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
